Can't SMS to more than 10 people with MMS on? bug?

I wanted to send an SMS to a bunch people, I did as I always did and kept clicking the + button and adding names but when it got to 10 the + symbol disappeared. I went to setting and turned MMS off and I could add all the names I wanted just as before.

Another weird thing is that when I add someone to the SMS list, even if I only have one phone number for that person, the contact info screen is displayed and I have to click on the phone number just like when there are multiple numbers for a contact... but there is only one number to choose.

I find both actions bizarre and am wondering if these are bugs that will get ironed out or is this the way it's supposed to work and I'll just have to turn MMS off to group SMS?

That is off on purpose to keep people from sending photos of their cats and dogs to 50 people...

Yes but I was trying to send an SMS not an MMS. If that was what they were trying to accomplish why wouldn't they just make the camera icon disappear at 10 rather than the + sign. Besides, there doesn't appear to be a limit on the number of people I could email that same picture to, and I would presume that that would take up a similar amount of network resources.

I'm sure that is an ATT requirement, not an Apple software thing. Apple skirts these issues making no comment....ATT is getting pretty good at doing that too -- ATT blocks google.voice; Slingplayer; etc from the network making they wifi only....I am sure they are the one who insisted Apple cripple the SMS/MMS app to make sure people don't oversaturate the network.

As it stands, here is SE Michigan, it is already oversaturated this evening and neither SMS nor MMS are going through consistently on any of ATT's phones -- so I assume every single iPhone user and their mother are trying to send MMS tonight.
