I just successfully upgraded to 10.6. After I re-booted the system, it popped up an error message that Symantec Antivirus Error - symantec AntiVirus Auto-Protect cound not continue Please run LiveUpdat or reinstall Symantec AntiVirus. I uninstalled it but the error message continued to pop up. Can someone advise how to remove it completely. Thanks!
Go to the Symantec site and see if you can find an appropriate removal tool. [Here is the link for the tools|http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 ].
I have encountered the same problem. I recently upgraded to 10.6.1 as well and after re-booting, received the same error message re: Symantec antivirus. I thought I deleted all files associated w/ the software, but was wrong. I wish to remove this from my system. Please help and advise. Thanks
DaddyPaycheck:-Thanks for the information. I'll check it out. Have you encountered the same situation and if so, did this resolve it? Will let you know how things turn out. Thanks.
Were you able to log onto the site where the utility is located? I'm teaching overseas, and internet connection isn't the greatest. As a result, I'm getting an error message from Safari stating it is unable to open the page. Suggestions? Sorry to bug you (no pun intended).
Update. Was able to delete Symantec!! I inserted the disk, placed the uninstall application on the desktop, ejected disk, ran the uninstall application, and presto, no more Symantec. Thanks again for your assistance.
