Spaces keyboard shortcut not working as expected

Hello,

I enabled the Control-# shortcut to switch directly to a space but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. The only space I can switch directly to is 1. If I press Control-2, 3, or 4, it will not switch. The only alternative is to press Control-1 and then 2,3, or 4 to switch spaces. I tried using the Option and Command keys as the shortcut key, but they both behave the same way. Does anyone know what the issue here is? Thanks for your help!

I'm a bit confused. My expectation was that if I pressed Control-4, Space 4 would pop up. On the same note, if I pressed Control-right arrow, I would move to whatever space was to the right of the current viewed space. Am I mistaken?

Interestingly, Control-arrow doesn't work either until I hit Control-1 to bring up the Spaces overlay.

Thanks!

If you want a method to test and perhaps isolate, create a new user account for testing only, no add-ons, etc. and see what occurs there under similar conditions. Again, I believe there are changes as part of SL - they just need to be learned and made part of a routine work-flow, etc.
