Cannot get directions to and from the same location

Hello, I have a 16GB iPhone 3G and have recently had an issue (I believe only since I got the 3.1 software as far as I know) that seems odd. It happens even after reboot and hard reset. Wifi and 3G.

When I use Google Maps for directions, I set my start to "current location" and an end address (in some cases 8 miles away, in others 30+ miles away) and it always gives me the same response: "cannot get directions to and from the same location"... now obviously I'm not anywhere near the same location and this has worked on much closer trips. When I type in my actual address as the "start" it always says "Directions could not be found between these locations". When I go on my computer to Google Maps with the same info, it all works fine.

This has been very frustrating and I don't want to attempt a reset of the software which would take hours and loss of data without knowing for sure if that will fix it.

Anybody else have this problem and know how to fix it?

Make sure you have the auto symbol selected at the top, not the bus (transit directions) or the man (walking directions).

An iPhone reset (not to be confused with a restore) is like rebooting your computer, does not affect your data, and cures many problems. Reset your phone: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I don't see any auto or bus button at the top.

I have already done the reset mentioned above, but I don't want to have to do a restore unless I know that will fix it.

It didn't work when I entered in an address either.

Ok, oddly when I turned 3g, wifi and location services off it still didn't work, but I wanted to check after a reboot so I left it all off and rebooted and suddenly everything worked! The only thing I hadn't tried before was the location services - that must've been the problem. I tried turning everything back on, rebooting and checking again and now all is still working perfectly!

Frustrating though...

Thanks for suggesting location services.
