3 finger swipe not working

did you check under system preferences> trackpad that all the things you need are marked?

I have the Same problem! I'm trying to figure it out. Anyone one have a fix yet?

Mine stopped working too, but I got it to work by unchecking all the 3 finger and 4 finger swipe boxes, rebooting, and rechecking the boxes.

Yeah, mine stopped working after installed some updates. I left everything checked and shutdown the computer. Started working again after I turned it back on. Hopefully the same will work for anyone else with the issue!!

I have a similar problem that affects the two-finger secondary click. On both my MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (Late 2008), right clicking intermittently stops working, usually after wake from sleep. I have to go into Trackpad System Preferences, uncheck and recheck the box and it starts working again... it happens about once every 2-3 days and is starting to get on my nerves. I've had this problem since at least OS 10.5.8. It seemed to have disappeared with 10.6, but has resurfaced in 10.6.2...

My Macbook Pro swipe just stopped working as well. As a matter of fact, all gestures stopped working. I started getting this weird freeze in Safari where after my machine would come back on after flipping up my monitor, Safari would just freeze about the fourth tab or so. I turned off the hard disk sleep and the freeze gone in Safari, but so are my gestures. I think my Safari is corrupt. Not sure. No gestures though, please advise!

Three finger navigate swipe stopped working a few days ago. Tried unchecking, rebooting, rechecking all three and 4 finger prefs. Still no go. I loved switching between current and most recent app using swipe, enter key.

OK my bad. It was 4 finger swipe that stopped working, but now it is working. Perhaps the rechecking/rebooting did work after all.

Just wondering, do the trackpad gestures have to be supported by individual apps? I switched from Safari to Opera a while back and there is only one thing I miss. The three finger swipe does not move the page back or forward as it does with Safari. Anybody have any ideas about this?

yep well this problem definately exists on 10.6.2 with my new macbook pro. its a tad tedious to have to keep rebooting rather than just shutting the lid. i very much hope this problem is fixed in the next release. seems to only affect three and four finger gestures. two finger and normal one finger not affected

Yes, it seems that Opera does not accept the three finger swipe gesture. Firefox and Safari is OK with it. How do you like Opera btw?

So I have this problem for the first time this morning. The reboot trick works, but I just rebooted again to go into bootcamp and it stop working had to do the reboot trick again to get it to work. Anyone reported this to Apple?

After I installed the recent security update for Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro, I noticed this problem just today. The problem affects all multi-touch gestures, including but not limited to the following:

Gestures Not Working

3 finger swipe
4 finger swipe (switching applications, show deskop, and expose')
Rotate & Pinch

Gestures Working for now

Secondary click (on bottom-right of trackpad)
2 finger right-click
2 finger scrolling
Tap to click
Click
Dragging (without enabling "tap to click")

I've had my MacBook Pro since December 2009 when I bought it at a Best Buy, and I have a Best Buy warranty so if it is hardware-related, then I can just drop it off at a local Best Buy and let a Geek Squad Agent deal with it.

According to AppleInsider.com, the public release of Mac OS X v10.6.3 Snow Leopard is expected to be released in 6 weeks from now with more support for certain technologies, applications, and more stability to target crashes, bugs, etc.

I really like it. I find it much snappier than both Safari and FF. I do have two problems however. When I leave my home airport network and plug in to my wired office network, I need to restart Opera in order to get it to connect. Also, the odd page will occasionally not load and just time out. But, for the most part, I'm liking it a lot.
