XBox 360 Network Issues via Ethernet
I recently purchased a 1TB Time Capsule, and my computers are all using it perfectly. However, my XBox 360 is unable to properly connect to XBox Live, even though it is connected via an ethernet cable directly to the TC. I have tried all of the suggested settings (static ip + port forwarding, default host, etc) but with no luck. The best I can get is a connection that will disconnect within 15-30 seconds.
I have noticed something that makes me wonder if my Time Capsule is malfunctioning. If I set my XBox 360 network settings to "automatic", it will obtain an IP address and other proper configuration from the Time Capsule, but it will flash between those values and all 0.0.0.0 values every 5 seconds or so. I have not seen this before, either with my old D-Link wireless router or if my XBox is connected straight to the cable modem. I have tried different LAN ports on the back of the TC, so it is not unique to a single port.
To me, it seems like this might explain why sometimes I can connect to XBL, and then get disconnected shortly thereafter. It seems as though the XBox is losing its configuration and then getting it reassigned from the Time Capsule, and this is repeating. I've tried connecting my MacBook Pro to the same ethernet cable and it seems to work fine.
Does this sound like a product malfunction on the Time Capsule side? Could it's ethernet ports be somehow problematic? Should I exchange the product?
