Playing one's own music over that of an app

Hello to you all Apple/iPod lovers (=,

Here's my problem : before the 3.0 OS upgrade, pressing the main button twice rapidly would display the iPod controls in a small window over anything else. Say I was listening to music and started an app that tried to play its own and paused mIne in that purpose. I could still override that by displaying the iPod controls and forcing my music to play over that of the app. Most app would be understanding and stop their music and sound effects. Not all as it happens but almost. Anyways, then came the update, and with it the main button setting. I found it great to be able to choose what it does - although to me there could be more choices. But then came the problem : I set it to Spotlight and activated the "Display iPod controls when playing music". Later I went to start an app that paused my music. By reflex I pressed the main button twice, but since music was not playing anymore it did not display the iPod controls, rather it displayed the spotlight window and quit the app. How annoying now, I have to listen to apps' corny music ! And there are a few that even though they don't have sond at all still pause my music on launching. Any ideas on how to solve this ? Thanks in advance for you help (= !

This is an incredibly annoying change. The best workaround, although it doesn't work for all third party apps, is to open your app, hit the sleep button, double tap home while viewing the "slide to unlock" screen to bring up controls, start your music, then slide to unlock.

But first, send feedback to Apple. Hopefully if enough people complain they'll change it back in the next update.
