Q: Since Snow Leopard, Can't shutdown

Hi to everyone,

Got an MBP 17" not the newest version but the previous one.

Installed 10.6, updated to 10.6.1

Now, I can't shut down the computer, it will restart everytime.

I've tried via the Apple menu, and the Power button.

Also, when I close the lid, instead of going to sleep and the little light "blinking", the light stays full on, and every 30 seconds or so, I can hear the DVD player turn on and off. No disk is in the drive.

If it goes to sleep without the lid down, same behaviour as above.

Tried to repair permissions but it did nothing to cure this.

Anyone with an idea or solution ????

Thanks

    Hello again,

if ever someone is still following this thread, here's another clue.

I installed SL on a free partition of the same HD in my MBP.

I did not import anything via Time Machine so the installation is "virgin".

No funny business going on with this intallation....

So it must come from the Restore via Time Machine.

One more note, on the fresh install, there is, of course, no list of 177 "reactivation" or "power up" in the System Information under Material and Power Source.

Any ideas on how to remove these "programs" maybe ???

For the sleep and shut down features to works correctly, I remove 3 files and it did the trick.
    HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist-orig

    HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist

    HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist

I believe the last one would be the culprit.
And the second one was generated again but the symptoms did not come back.
