i have just updated to snow leopard on my imac and now I cannot connect to the internet any answers please?
I am not very impressed that I have paid my money to waste time.
I am sorry to hear your Internet isn't working, however you really haven't given anyone here enough details to be able to help you.
How do you connect to the Internet? (Wireless/Wired)
Is there a router between you and the Internet, or are you directly connected to the modem? (if you are using wireless, it's probably a router)
When you look at the Network Preference Pane, does it say if you are connected? If you are connected, what is the IP address that you have?
ok sorry i connect wired but my ibook is connecting wirelessly Ok
i connect via a router and it does say I am connected.ip address is
79.52.65.83.
Although it shows it is sending but not receiving
79.52.65.83 is an odd address to have behind a standard home router. Assuming that you are using DHCP, click on "Advanced" and then, under the "TCP/IP" tab, click on "Renew DHCP Lease."
If that doesn't work, it should show you the address of your router. Open the Network Utility.app in the Utilities folder. Go to the Ping and then type in the address of the router in the box that appears and press the Ping button. Then copy and paste the results back here.
Go Finder > Your HD > Library > Preferences >SystemConfiguration;
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to your Desktop;
Restart
Launch you browser and with any luck you'll be online.
Keep your System Configuration folder for a while just in case
Thanks! Just upgraded to SL and could not connect. Removing the Preferences folder and restarting did the trick. These groups are fantastic. Fortunately I had a bootable backup on an external drive so I could connect that way.
