What type of firewire cable do I buy to transfer data from my MacBook3,1 to my brand new iMac?
I have a cable that fits my MacBook but not my iMac.
Thanks
you can either get the 6 pin to 9 pin adapter, or the 6 to 9 cable.
I like the cables better the adapter is smaller, easier to lose, & creates a long, stiff joint prone to breaking should something fall or pull the cable.
The new iMac has a FireWire 800 connector while the MacBook has a 9 pin FireWire 400 connector. Therefore you would need a cable and/or appropriate adapters that would connect the two.
Sorry to jump in on this thread, but can a FireWire 400 drive be connected to a MacBook Pro's FireWire 800 port? The cable I currently have for my 400 drive doesn't fit the 800 port on my new MacBook Pro.
What kind of cable should I purchase to make this work?
Does Apple sell this cable at their retail stores?
