Long boot times

Snow Leopard has worked pretty well (except for the Microsoft Office continual crashes). What I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing long boot times. It takes my MacBook Pro two minutes to get fully started. For about a minute all I see is a dark blue screen.

I have the same issue... I bought mac mini (version 10.5) before the product update on 10/20. Boot time was pretty fast.
Later, I exchanged to the newer model (version 10.6) after 10/20. (Apple store manager kindly exchanged it). But the booting time is significantly longer... After pushing the power button, the blank white screen for 40 seconds... then Apple logo shows up in the middle for 25 seconds.... then finally the desktop shows up.
I better check Apple store to check if the mac mini there is doing the same...

I dug through my "notes" and found this possible fix for slow startups. I believe the fix to be safe if executed properly. I have never tried the fix. So, use it at your own risk.

Launch Terminal and type the following commands exactly as below:

sudo chown root:admin /
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

You'll have to enter your password after the first command.
