    MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009)

Also having this problem since the last update. Used to connect to my Sony Bravia perfectly but now does nothing. The MBP screen flashes once, nothing happens on the TV and no other device is displayed under settings. Tried all the fixes so far to no avail. I'm using a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter (DisplayPort Cable E301195 AWM STYLE 20276 80c 30V VW-1 PAK HENG), that worked pefectly well before, so I'm putting it down to device driver changes. Please help, Apple.

I found a fix. It was my mini display to hdmi moshi adapter that wasn't working. Tried another one and all good now.

Well I've been using a mini DVI to HDMI adapter to my TV (Panasonic Viera 50") with my Macbook Pro for about a year and as soon as I changed to Maverick it will no longer connect properly.

I get sound from whatever is playing on my macbook but no picture just my desktop background.

When unsuccessfully trying to connect a late 2009 Mac mini to an HDMI monitor here is what I have learned to solve my problem. I had purchased a Belkin mini display port to HDMI adaptor and connected to the monitor with an older HDMI cable. No luck - blackscreen, no signal. Read the blogs and quickly determined that not all HDMI cables are the same. Back to the Apple store to exchange the Belkin adaptor for a Belkin HDMI to mini display port connectors and voila! Success.

Problem has been solved. It was the actual moshi adapter and sent back the RMA and the new one is on it's way however purchased another one on amazon in the meantime.

ohh I wish I would have seen this message before. Did you know you can just download airparrot and you can mirror your display on your tv without an adapter? I found out earlier today and cant believe apple did not do it and makes us go to 3rd party to pay for software that should have been on our Apple computers to begin with. I have early 2010 macbook with OS Maverick on it but no airplay so I was using an adapter but just randomly found out there is a fix it is called airparrot and it costs 10 dollars.

I too am getting extremely hacked off now. It HAS to be a software problem as I can't connect to either my projector or either of my televisions, though they both worked fine before. The HDMI hasn't worked with one TV for a little while, but worked with my smaller one. Then that stopped working the other night so I connected by VGA, which was working perfectly. Then, when I came back a few hours later it had decided to stop. Connected my brother's PC and it connected straight away. I need to dual screen to get my uni work done and this needs to be sorted because it's driving me mad! Apple, why haven't you sorted this yet!?!!

Yes... Apple, where are you when we need you most?!?!?! Lots of money spent on your equipment. Enlightning us is the least you can do.

Another month, another two different brands of mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable ruined.  This time it was one from Monoprice, and one from Radio Shacl (Gigaware).  I have never seen anything quite like the way this MacBook fries these things.

It's highly unlikely that a MacBook is ruining one, let alone several different cables.

Over the past year, I've had 11 go bad. Apple, Monoprice, Blue Rigger, Moshi, Gigaware - each brand randomly fried after weeks of working.  The two I posted about above did so within hours of eachother.  I've used them with three different brands of monitors and two different brands of TVs.  So what, pray tell, could be doing it if not the MacBook?
