Blank White Screen on New iPhone 3GS

I got hold of an iPhone 3GS two days ago. I was charging the phone when I press the home button and the whole screen went white.

Can anyone tell me the cause of it? And whether I am able to get a replacement from the store?

It is working now after depressing the top and home button for 10 seconds, but I am paranoid as it will happen again.

Thank you for your help.

I have had the same thing after almost two week. The screen went white and a hard reset fixed it.

My carrier, Fido, has suggested it is a temporary firmware problem, and a full restore should fix it.

Can you let us know what happened to your phone? Is your phone still working or did you end up replacing it?

Regards

Same problem for me. Brand new iPhone 3GS 32r
Sometimes, (±3 times a day) when I push the "home" button the screen becomes White, and stay white during ±7 secondes, then black. I re-Push the "home" button and, by magic, it works… ?!
Try reseting, restoring etc… Same problem. = I paid 600€ for that… = Back to Apple…
