Printer does not show up in airport utility

Hello

I have an airport express and it has worked great. I had it connected to an hp printer and it worked flawlessly. however i now have a lexmark 5300 series printer and the airport utility shows that there is nothing connected to the airport express when i try and install it. the printer works when i plug it directly into my computer. please help

15" Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

If the printer isn't showing up in the AirPort Utility (in the manual setup / printers), I'd try the following:
1. make sure the printer is on and plugged in good
2. try a new usb cable
3. power-cycle the printer and airport
4. update the airport firmware

If the printer still doesn't show up, the USB port on the airport may be bad (test this by plugging in a different printer) or it is just not compatible with this particular printer.

Not being compatible is strange as it should at least detect a printer if it can be detected by a mac.

Bear in mind that some printers will only work when they are connected directly to a computer. Work your way through the Apple troubleshooting guide to see if that will help get things going.
