Image across 2 page spread?

Is it possible to get an image to spread across 2 pages wide without having to split it in half manually and import two seperate images?

I can not for the life of my find any way to do this

MacBook 13" 2.4Ghz, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Lots of RAM, Lots of storage, and no spare time!

There is no need for a "hack" or other editing to make 2 halves. Since the photo will "disappear" off of the page, all you need to do is insert the image twice or duplicate it & then line up the photo on two side by side pages. Use the pop-up at the bottom left of the document & choose two-up. You could also mask one half on one page & the other half on the other page.
