Cannot log into YouTube native iPhone app

I have an existing YouTube account, and am able to log into that account via the YouTube website (in Safari and other browsers).

Before upgrading my iPhone 3GS to 3.0.1, I was logged into that same YouTube account via the native iPhone YouTube app. I signed in using the "sign in" button in the upper left corner of the interface.

Since upgrading to 3.0.1, I was no longer logged into YouTube in the app. I am prompted to reenter my YouTube credentials. I enter in the very same username and password that I use on YouTube proper -- those credentials haven't changed since long before I owned an iPhone. For what it's worth, the password only contains characters from a-Z and/or 0-9

When I enter my YouTube credentials on the iPhone, I receive this error: "Authentication Failed. Sorry, your login was incorrect".

I have restored my iPhone and it doesn't fix the problem.

iPhone 3GS 16GB, iPhone OS 3.0.1

Could this be an Apple/Youtube incompatiability? Recently I tried to log on to my Youtube account with my iphone from the youtube app: "Authentication Failed. Sorry, your login was incorrect." This exact same login was working fine the last time I tried (about a month or two ago) and works fine in safari on the iphone. I also recently purchased a Macbook pro. I can log into youtube via safari there, but get the same behavior if I try to log into youtube through Quicktime. Seems like something is amiss with the Apple/Youtube connection. I would really like to get Quicktime and the iPhone app talking to youtube again, anyone have any ideas? (Other than clean sweep of the iPhone and restore from backup).

I am having the same issue, it worked this afternoon and suddenly all my favorites were gone. When I try to sign in it says Authentication Failed Sorry, your login was incorrect. I tried factory reset and restore and have the same issue. My YouTube login works just fine on both my MacBook and iMac, it also works fine on two Tivo's so it is defiantly an iPhone issue.

You're not alone. I'm dealing with the same problem (started earlier today). I can access my YouTube account via any browser, however trying to use the native YouTube app on my iPhone or my LG Blu-ray player -- then I get the "Authentication Failed. Sorry, your login was incorrect." message. And I'm a YouTube junkie on my LG player... so this is really upsetting. I'm freaking out.

Add me to the list. Ive been logged in to my you tube acct on my phone for 2 years. I've never logged out, but suddenly today I'm logged out and it won't let me back in. I get the same message y'all are getting. I can log in on my macbook just fine though.

Did y'all know that if you favorite a video on your phone, and after that, youtube removes the video for copyright infringement, that the video is still accessible on your phone? I have lots of videos like that in my fave list. I wonder if that has anything to do with this?

FIXED IT!!! I found this solution on the youtube.com message board.

I have a gmail acct. I went to youtube.com under settings and changed my email address sp that I could link my YT acct to my google acct. Once it was linked, I signed in on my iphone app with just my gmail user name and password. It worked, but what I said in my previous post is no longer true. You tube got wise and the videos they removed no longer work on the phone. I swear they used to. I watched the whole twilight movie last year 10 minutes at a time on my phone from video that had been removed and was unavailable on the full computer site.

I have the same problem and it started yesterday (12/16/09). I was using YouTube earlier in the day to show someone some videos from my playlist and later last night, I got the error that said that my login was incorrect. I can log onto the site just fine. I've been logged on since it became an option in the YouTube app. This is the first time I've been logged out. I can't figure this out.

I'm also running the latest OS on my iPhone.

This didn't work for me. I have 2 Google accounts. Tried tying them both to my YouTube account. Neither allows me to login on the iPhone app. Anybody else having success with this method?

I had the same problem the only thing i found to fix this was to create a Google account. Then goto Youtube and login with the Goggle account "email address and password you used for goggle", once that is done you will get a screen where you enter the Youtube login, once that is done you get another screen to verify the Google login. This will link the Google login with the Youtube login then on the Iphone/itouch for the Youtube login use the Google login "email address and password" instead of the youtube login and this will fix the problem.
