Do you mean you want your MacBook to stay connected to the network when you close the lid? To avoid the problem of overheating, Apple disabled this. You might try searching for software hacks though.
When I close my MacBook pro, airport turns off. What can i do to have it on while MB is closed?

lczarne, Welcome to the discussion area!
To use your MacBook Pro while it is closed, follow the directions in " Apple Portables: How to use your computer in closed clamshell (display closed) mode with an external display".
The iBooks are the portables with this feature disabled.

Duane,
The problem is rather specific - Airport shuts down when MacBook is closed. I don't think he was asking about using it with a display. Plus, that function only works if a display is connected; something he doesn't mention at all.
I believe it's something more like wanting to close the MacBook and still be connected to the internet to download files or something like that.

Sure I understand all that. 🙂 The OP asked "What can i do to have it on while MB is closed?" and that article describes how it can be done. It may require additional equipment than what the OP now has.
MacBook closing = airport shut down. how to turn it off?
