How do I play podcasts sequentialy?

My last Nano (3rd gen, 8 gig) played multiple podcasts from the same source (Example: NPR talk of the nation)one after the other. My new 5th generation Nano plays one podcast, then stops. I've tried making a playlist for my daily podcasts, but it won't sync up w/ my nano. Could this be a firmware issue? Any suggestions?

For the 'not synching' issue: try naming your smart playlist something other than the name of the podcast - just label it with your own name to test it.

For the continuous play issue: try selecting all the original podcast files, press command+I, click on the Options button, then select "Part of a compilation" and choose Yes.

Only try one of these at a time, then test to confirm the result.

Hope that helps.

Same issue here.
I also went from a nano G3 to G5. The G5 stops after each episode while the G3 went on.
I've seen the same behaviour on the G3 as soon as I enabled shuffle play on music before listening to the podcasts what was already quite an annoyance. But with the G5 this seems to developped to the worse as it happens all the time, independently of the shuffle settings on music.
!! very annoying!!
Desparately hoping for a fix soon...

I noticed this same thing. I made a Smart Playlist for each podcast (this also works with a regular playlist). When you sync your iPod, go to the MUSIC tab and check off the podcasts you want on your iPod. Then go to the PODCAST tab and check off the same playlists (from the list at the bottom). Play the playlist from MUSIC - PLAYLIST on your iPod rather than under Podcast. They will play sequentially until all podcasts in that playlist have been played.

I see that this thread has been classified as "answered" but the only option that was suggested (making a playlist for each podcast) is, to me at least, highly unsatisfactory.

If I have 7 podcasts to listen to by one content source, isn't it logical to expect that one could click the first one and expect them to move to the next "track" sequentially once it is finished? To give one example, I had 10 unplayed podcasts in one folder, each around 1 minute in length. The current firmware (version 1.0.2 for Nano 5G) forced me to click three or four times at the conclusion of each podcast to hear the next one. This seems counter-intuitive.

I would be very pleased to see this restored in a future firmware update.

You are quite correct. This topic has not been answered as no-one knows if this is a bug or a "feature" of the new 5th Gen Nano. Apple doesn't seem to acknowledge there is a problem so it's probably a "feature" to keep people, who didn't like the fact that the next podcast was played automatically, happy. I admit, sometimes I didn't want the next podcast played automatically, but this new "feature" is not an improvement. Apple don't fix this by releasing an iPod Nano 6th Gen., give us a firmware update.

I got the same problem and it is really annoying and dangerous on top of it.
If I am listening to podcast and driving in my car I have to click on this **** thing every 5 minutes..... this is totally insane!

I got the iPod because of the Apple's great reputation for usability but I guess I will have to look for alternatives since this issue seems to be around since ages:

How to make Podcasts play one after another:
Make a new PLAYLIST...
Name it what ever you like...
Copy your Podcasts into the new Playlist...
You can reorder the podcasts to your liking...

Audio Podcasts will show up in the Music-->Playlist
Video Podcasts will l show up in the Video-->Playlist

Unfortunately if you mix video and audio podcasts they will been made into separate playlists in the music and video category.
