how to remove a buzz?

Sorry to ask this here if it's not appropriate.
I use Logic. I have a vocal audio track that's got a mild
buzz in it, probably from a bad mic grounding situation
that I was not on top of when the track was recorded.

Any recommendations of plugins/techniques to deal with
such a thing?

If it´s too worse i would recommend to record the Takes again ! No Artifacts, No nothing but good Sound 🙂

Have you tried to use the noise analysis and reduction feature of Audacity?

Check it out. It can do a great job w/some experimentation.

Its freeware.

You can use a *Channel Eq* , get one band at 50-60 hz down to -24 dB, narrowest Q value (100). Sweep that around 50-60 Hz until you hit the 'sweet' spot. Double, quadruple and octuple (?) the found frequencies to set the other bands.

Thanks all. I downloaded an iZotope trial, and it looks like what they are doing is precicely what Eriksmon suggested.

The method I usually use in Soundforge on the PC is to find a short section of the noise/buzz by itself and sample it. This sample is then analyzed and used as the basis for the noise reduction. Looks like "Audacity" is using a simplified version of the same concept.
