Unable to import DTS

When I try to import a DTS audio asset I'm getting an error message informing me that it's an incompatible format.

Any suggestions?

Depends on what version of DVD Studio Pro you're using. I believe DTS didn't make it into the app until v3.

I'm running v.4. I am very confused. Do I need a DTS compatible application installed in order for the Mac to see and identify them?

Hi Marc

I think it might depend on what encoder was used to create the DTS file. I seem to remember reading somewhere that certain older versions of an encoder where creating incompatible DTS streams - don't remember which one. Do you know who created it and with what software?

Did a bit of searching and found it on Creative Cow Forums. DTS files created by an outdated version of MINETONKA SurCode encoder can cause problems

The problem appears to be that my supplied DTS file has a .dts file extension. It needs to be a .cpt file in order for DVD Studio Pro to recognise it.

Does anybody know if there's any way of converting it from .dts to .cpt?

I know it sounds stupid but have you tried just changing the extension?

Yes, I thought that myself and tried it - but alas, no, it doesn't work.

FCP will only accept DTS files in the .cps (compacted file format).

If anybody has any suggestions on how to convert from .dts to .cps then please let me know.

Yeah, me too. (Sorry) I've been sitting on some .dts files thinking I could use them one day. 😟
