How to decline an app update

I have an update available for one of my apps. I don't want to update this particular app. Is there a way to remove the "1" badge on the app store icon on the iphone? Or is there a way to decline the update in itunes?

Iphone 3GS, iPhone OS 3.0.1

No, the only way to remove it is to update the app. Else, just ignore the badge. Or, turn off Installing Apps in Settings > General > Restrictions to get rid of the App Store icon.
