Trouble hosting of joining a Monopoly Here and now wifi game.

Me and my wife downloaded the monopoly app last night. We tried a few times last night to make a game. Both of us tried hosting and joining, to no avail. We always get the message connection with host lost. I'm just wondering if there is something i need to know about setting my router up so our phones can communicate properly. I have tried reinstalling the app and turning the phones on and off
