Nokia 6700 Classic

I recently purchased a Nokia 6700 Classic, forgetting to check the compatibility of the phone with iSync and I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised to find this Nokia mobile wasn't a supported handset for iSync. Apart from wondering why in 2009 any mobile phone can't be compatible with iSync I am hopeful that someone might have a solution to this problem. In case you feel the need to say buy an iPhone, I already have one for work. I just wanted a smaller phone for personal calls.

Any phone can be compatible with iSync if the manufacturer incorporates the industry standard SyncML protocol into it, and the manufacturer (or third-party developer) releases an iSync Plugin for it.

Nokia has iSync Plugins for a large number of its phones here:

http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/isync/compatibi lity-and-download

but not yet the 6700, for some reason.

If you google for "nokia 6700 isync" you may find some third-party alternatives though.

Thanks for the suggestion! About 2 days ago, I purchased the Nokia Plugins for under 10 Euro (used Paypal to purchase) and iSync now works with my Nokia 6700. Note the purchase includes Plugins for other Nokia handset models.

Their website is http://www.mactomster.de/isync/isync-en/

Additionally, I use to have a Nokia 6300 and for some reason, iSync required me to remove this Nokia Plugin from the list of Plugins; and once removed, iSync worked well. I have sent an email regarding the Nokia 6300 plugin not working but haven't yet received a reply.

I'm currently developing a plugin for the Nokia 6700. You may give it a try at: http://variety-of-geekness.blogspot.com/ (Blog is in German, but you should be able to identifiy the download link). Current version 0.3. works pretty well, but is surely not bug free.

The whole thing is released under the GPL, the source for the iSync-Plugin-Maker is also available.
