Apple experts, video goes all GREEN-what is happening there?

Hello,
I see that others are having this problem with their video being replaced by an all-green screen. The audio is still there, but your screen is green, on your DVD and when you make and play a disk image.
Can you tell us what, exactly, is happening there?
With mine, it seems to begin and end with chapter markers. Begins with Ch. 11, pops back to great video with Ch. 16, good till the end, Ch. 27.
Ch. 11 begins with a dissolve to iMovie text over an iMovie background. Nothing special. That's followed by a 2-min. video from the internet (with permission)
but then, several chapters of nothing-special video and audio, no voiceover, no audio effects.
I have voiceover in the last chapter, which is fine.
I'll try to see EXACTLY where this problem starts, today. Do chapter markers have something to do with it? Don't know.

I'm having the same trouble with a green screen as well.

My DVD project is perfect when previewed in iDVD. However, once the disc has been burnt the sole video I've got in the project has nothing but a green screen. The audio is fine. The main menu if fine as well. I have not put any chapters into the project. The video file is a DivX file.

Does anyone know of any solutions? I have tried the two solutions suggested on this website.

Bengt, Milky_42 and Glo H,

Thanks to you all. But this morning, on the disk image, the menu is green, the video, at least the video that was green before, is ok now.
I can see to navigate on the disk image, because there is one chapter rectangle visible, which highlights each chapter as I navigate.
I'm going to see if there's a simpler menu I can use. There was slowness and hangups during the whole menu assembly and disk image process.
I clicked "still image" on each chapter button. I had no drop zone stuff going in any of my scene selection pages.
Everything had a checkmark in the project info list.
No "!" in the map.
But things seemed slow, with long waits for spinning beach balls, during the menu assembly process. And after creating the .img, I had a big hangup, and had to lay on the button to shut down the machine.
I've got that Istat Pro widget, and nothing looked bad there. You know, 4GB of memory, plenty of disk space, etc.
And I did the "never" sleep mode thing.
I hope there's a simpler menu, with no motion involved. That'll make me feel better about "too much going on" for the computer.
I'll let you know what I find, and you can keep me informed, too.

Hey Gang,

It seems there is no "simple" menu option.
And I recall another thing that was weird during iDVD "menu assembly":
All of the slideshow transitions I tried worked, but the first thing that happened in a transition was big, bad pixels of scenes from chapter buttons, I guess.
"Reveal" worked ok, but I used "none" on 3 of my four slideshows.
I'll call Apple tomorrow, or have them call me.
Maybe I've got something going on in this computer that's screwing things up.

Hello, (Sunday evening)

Playing the .img again, I see that the TITLE menu looks ok, but of my 5 "chapter button" pages, 4 of them are green, with an orange rectangle that lets me navigate.
The "chapters 13-18" page is normal, for some reason.
Also, I keep noticing that clicking "still frame" on those chapter buttons has no effect for me. They keep rolling video.
And, I see that my slide intervals are too long. They should be 3 sec., but they're much longer.

To all "screen turns green" people,

I just got a call from Applecare. This person was not familiar with this problem, wanted me to check the sleep mode, etc.
So I told her I'd just give it another try, putting the menu together, making the chapter buttons as small as possible, maybe with no video or still frame at all in them.
I'm wondering if there's something wrong in this machine, tho, with all the slowness and trouble I had just assembling the menus yesterday. Every possible app that I can turn off today, I will.

Hi, "bad green screen people",

I beat the problem today. My sizeable video, with brief preshow video, and 4 slideshows, is successfully on DVDs now. No green screen.

I went to the "Soft Frame Main" menu. I put just one photo in each of the 3 drop zones, which are found only on the Title page, in this theme, not in the chapter button pages. Your photos are NOT sized for the "zone" so you have to find photos that look ok. (Subject in the right place).
I didn't resize the chapter buttons, but I did "select all" on each page, and clicked "still frame". And I did choose "push" for the transition. And with the slideshows, I used "reveal". Works fine.

But I want to take this new Macbook Pro up to the Apple Store in Chicago, and see if they can see anything wrong. iDVD quit twice again, and things were just a little too dicey.
Finally, I did make a disk image before the actual disk. But knowing WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING THE DISK IMAGE is kind of hard to tell. I found it in "documents" but it was grayed out. I guess you have to double-click the icon on the desktop, and then launch DVD Player. And when it played, I didn't see .img anywhere. And I'm still unclear as to whether the green screen problem will show up, if you have it, when you play the video right after processing, playing it IN iDVD.
Well, anyway, it was a learning experience, and I won't burn any disks from now on, w/o checking right after processing, and doing a .img.
Thanks for your input, you three, and maybe we can help each other again.

Jerry
