'App Store' application was deleted and...

#1. On my iPhone my 'App Store' application was somehow deleted.
In an effort to get it back, I sync'd my phone to my mini-mac and downloaded it to my itunes. However, I can't get it onto my phone because...

#2. My 'applications' tab which appears on the mini-mac when my phone is connected, is grayed out and does not let me check my applications, nor does it let me check the space to 'sync applications'.
Why is this? How do I get my App store back onto my iPhone without having to 'restore' it?

On your phone, check Settings > General > Restrictions.

Thank you, mine was set to 'ON' but it's asking for a passcode which I don't remember ever setting, so I don't know what it is...:-?

If you didn't set the passcode for restrictions, then someone else who has used your phone did.

Read the iPhone User Guide for details, but for this particular case it says on page 146: "If you forget your passcode, you must restore your iPhone software from iTunes."

This is covered on page 145 (Chpter 19) of the user guide.

Basically it says that to turn on this feature a 4 digit passcode must be entered. To turn off, this same passcode is needed.

If you have forgotten this passcode, then the phone must be restored, the action of which is on page 200.

Yes.

Why is this?

When you enable restrictions for the App Store, it is disabled and its icon is removed from the Home screen. You cannot install applications on iPhone.

How do I get my App store back onto my iPhone without having to 'restore'

If you don't know the passcode, you must restore the phone.
