SD Port Not working

I have inserted my SanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo and nothing is happening. Nothing has showed up on my desktop and it seems as if it wasnt even recognized.
Is this memory stick not compatible or do i need to do something for the computer to recognize that i have inserted it?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Hi,

I am afraid that Memory Sticks are not compatible.

The SD card slot is only compatible with SD, SDHC cards and I think micro SD cards with the appropriate adaptor.

I know many of the USB multiple card readers available use the same slot to read SD and Memory stick (the one I have does) but the SD card slot built into the Macs are just for SD cards.
