Volume control of Tom Tom Application

I've got the Tom Tom App installed on the 3GS, and it works fine, but the volume is too low. I"ve got the volume set as high as it can go on the ringer and the phone and ipod volume, but it doesn't have any effect. I'm running OS 3.1. At one time the volume level was fine. Please advise.

Well I spoke to soon--The info you gave works, but I've discovered that the problem seems to be associated with the iPhone being connected via bluetooth to my car's headunit/handsfree. When bluetooth is on and the iphone connected the sound is either very low or none at all. When I turn bluetooth off on the iPhone it works fine. It must have something to do with the headset/handsfree profile that is sending the audio output from Tom Tom to the headunit rather than through the iPhone's speakers. Any suggestions??

Do you know how to recreate that bluetooth connection? Playing around with it, I turned it off and can't figure out how to get it back. It was nice because I could be listening to the radio and it would break in to give directions. Now though, I have to have the deck tuned to the iphone for directions since it runs through the hardwire connection to the deck and does not break in when listening to the radio or cd player like it did with bluetooth. Essentially, it was behaving as if the direction prompts were incoming calls.

Stephen- Thanks for taking a stab at this. I have an Alpine car stereo that directly plugs into my iphone. This connection allows me to select, play songs, etc. through the car stereo while listening to the ipod. For phone functionality, there is a bluetooth connection to the car stereo as well. With bluetooth, notice of calls will cut into whatever function I am using on the stereo (eg. if I'm listening to the radio, it will break in to let me know I have a call.) When I added the tomtom app, it would function like the phone and break into give voice prompts whether I was listening to the radio or ipod. Though, I was having problems controlling the volume, as others have described. Playing around with it, I stumbled upon a way to disable voice prompts running through bluetooth (it was also annoying since it did not always work well because of the lag between tomtom sending out the voice prompt and bluetooth connecting to the stereo it would miss the prompt.) The end result is it now runs through the hardwire and I am able to control volume and get timely prompts, but only while I'm listening to the ipod function. What I have not been able to figure out is how to get it to go through bluetooth again. I just downloaded the tomtom update, so maybe there's been a fix. I know it's a bit of a conundrum since it involves integration between the car stereo, iphone, bluetooth and tomtom. Though, I'd appreciate it if anyone has mastered this app and knows how to set it back to bluetooth.

I don't know if this will work, but I notice that when I get a call on the iPhone and I'm connected via Bluetooth to the car's headunit, a screen appears for me to select the headunit's speaker's, the iphone's speakers, or the iphone's ear speaker. If yours shows that screen it might be a solution. I've not seen any setting in the TomTom iphone application to direct its output. What did you do?
