Inherit font styles (italics, bold, subscript, etc) in TOC

Hi All,

I have a document with a lot of sections for which I want to make a TOC. I have formatted every heading with the same style so I can create a TOC from them. Everything works fine except that any formatting in the heading is lost in the TOC. For example, some of my headings have subscript numbers (chemical formulas) or italized words that lose that formatting in the TOC. For example:

Heading title: "+In situ+ determination of microscopic properties"
TOC entry: "In situ determination of microscopic properties"

Is there a way around that? For this document it is essential that these attributes are kept. Italics or bolds I can live without, but super and subscripts are absolutely neccesary! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
J.

So, in order to have formatting in the TOC, I have to export in rtf, lose the ability to have the TOC automatically updated if I make any changes, import back in pages and apply those formatting changes by hand, one by one. Wow. I will definitely give apple some feedback. The TOC feature might work exactly as intended, but I can't really see why anyone would want it to behave that way in the first place.

Thanks for your help,
J.
