Do I need to manually turn off Wifi when it sleeps?

To save battery and to avoid getting cancer.

Or does sleeping automatically disable it?

iPod Touch 3G 32gb, iPhone OS 3.0.1

I doubt that it has anything to do with cancer.

It doesn't use much battery in sleep. I leave wi-fi all the time and have no issues.

WiFi sleeps when the iPod sleeps - unless you have an app, like Mail, that will wake up and check periodically.

If you are worried about cancer from WIFI, focus more on the really big causes of cancer - tobacco, excessive sunlight, and HPV virus.

Why are we talking about cancer in the same breath as wifi?? Wifi signals are EVERYWHERE!!! Get over it! When I turn on my Touch I see all sorts of wifi networks around my home or when I take it down the street. Wifi is ubiquitous. If you are worried about it, live in the boonies.
