MacBook Charger Issue- Only Charges When Computer is OFF

My MacBook recently started having an issue with its charger. If the charger is plugged in, it will not light up, is not recognized by the computer, and does not charge. However, if my computer is TURNED OFF, it will SOMETIMES charge.

Previous to this, the charger was working, but the light would occasionally not turn on when it was charging.

I purchased my black MacBook in the summer of 2006, and it is Mac OSX 10.5.8. The charger is newer-- my first one got frayed wires. That was sometime 2008. Don't know if any of this is helpful, but this is a problem I'd like to get fixed. 🙂

I have recently had this problem twice, the 1st was about 1 year after I had bought my mac, they actually went in and replaced my logic board as well as determined the problem to be not with the chord itself but with the actual powersource(located by where you plug in at) The second a year later actually was my power chord. Thankfully my computer was under warranty both times! I will never not buy applecare protection! However this is what your problem sounds like! I would take it to a genius bar! Good luck.
