Text Alerts from itunes

Hi
I have an iphone 3gs 3.1 and just paid for a ringtone from itunes. Howewver it went right into my itunes library and not my settings...so I can't use it. I want to use it as an SMS alert. Can anyone help? (I'm using Windows Vista)
