Is it possible to see the grid THROUGH regions?

Hi Guys,

Sorry to ask a fairly basic question, but I'm wondering if there's any way to see the grid lines in the main window THROUGH regions in L9?

We were trying to line a part up with the first beat of the bar the other day, and wanted to exactly line up the audio with the grid. However, it appears there's no way to see the grid itself through the region, to line up accurately.

Have I missed something obvious here? I've looked through all the settings but without any luck...

Thanks heaps guys,
Mike

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the quick response...

Yep, I know I could snap to grid, but in this case it's an audio (percussion) hit which we were trying to move using flex time. The hits weren't all perfect, and we wanted to move them manually so they would align with beat lines.

Any thoughts on how we might be able to see the grid through the regions?

Thanks again,
Mike

Also the yellow help tags when you move a region will tell you the start and end positions of the region (bar, beats, divisions and ticks)...so no need really to see the grid unless you are used to that somehow 😉

In case you want to repeat regions ,using the appropriate selection in the Repeat regions dialog can do this automatically for you....

Enable Flex mode and move the slider that defines the automation transparency (Preferences>Display>Arrange) all the way to the right.

This thread does remind me of the 2 things I miss from my Cubase days.

1. the transparent grid
2. stereo interleaved files in the arrange page appear as stereo files ie: you can see the left and right wav. In Logic you can only see this in the audio edit window

I used Cubase from VST3 days up SX3.

I stopped using Cubase when I went from a G4 to an Intel Mac.

I like Logic.

Hmmmn... After years of using Logic I've gone against the trend. I used to use Cubase years and years and years ago and recently saw a few new features of Cubase 5 used in a studio whilst on tour in Oz. Went out and upgraded my old copy and I have to say... it is pretty darn good! The vari audio tool is very nice. Now I have both and the best of both worlds. Cubase still has a lot of bite in it. Apple beware... I hope they can continue to develop good product and haven't just maintained logic as an engine for garage band. The latest version didn't have as much in it as I'd hoped for. Only just posted this because I come across a lot of people who mention things they miss from the Cubase days:)
