Auto backup in Logic 9

Hi All,

I'm still a bit puzzled about Logic's backup system...

In Logic 8, if it crashed during operation, it would save a special version of the project in the project file, which was created as the crash occurred.

Logic 9 doesn't seem to do this...

Is there any "auto save" option in Logic? (I like the way Cubase can save every few minutes, even if the user forgets to).

Also, you can select the number of backups in Logic, under the prefs. How do these work? What kind of increments are used?

Thanks guys!
Mike

Short answer no.

It's still there, but it's a hit and miss affair, make sure you get into the habit of Apple S. I used to have a sticker on the bottom of my monitor that said " SAVE!!!" I'm so used to it now that it's automatic. The amount of times I've thought that I'd lost hours of work only to pull the "5mins ago saved version" I can't count. Learn to save. Make it automatic.

Logic will save backups on the last modified version, whether that be hours, days, weeks etc. If you select the last 5 versions you get the last 5 modified versions.

*Save save save*... Your work, your loss. I can't drill it in enough.

By now, Logic should have implemented an Autosave. Final Cut has one; why not Logic?

I too am in the habit of cmd-S, but just the other day i was writing with Logic totally absorbed in it when an hour went by in what seemed like seconds - then a hard crash, no (crashed) file, no nothing. I lost the whole hour of work.

Should I be afraid to write freely, staying nervous that I didn't hit cmd-S recently enough? This is not the way to be creative.

Logic needs an intelligent user-customizable Autosave that can be turned on/off, and have the intervals set by user, and knows not to save during multitrack recording or any super-heavy CPU usage.

Seriously Apple, let's put this issue to bed already. People have been asking for this for years.
