IP camera access

I went to the AT&T store (NO apple store around here) to ask questions about the Iphone ... but no one could answer my questions ...

I wanted to see if I could access a wireless IP camera ... I put in the address and it asked for the password ... the camera software was accessed but no video stream. LIke most IP cameras it is set up for Internet explorer using activeX for 2 way audio and zoom ... but on my computer I've been able to access it with firefox and Safari but without those features. Does the phone's browser just need a java plug in? I see some apps are available but they really don't seem to do anything different from the Trendnet software that comes up when you access the camera.

Macbook Pro 15" 2.93 GHz 4 GB DDR3, Mac OS X (10.6.1), Vista Ultimate on Bootcamp/Fusion/Linux Ubuntu

I imagine it depends on which/whose IP camre you use.

If the IP camera needs a Windows ActiveX control, then you're out of luck.

If the IP camera needs a Java applet, then you're out of luck.

If the IP camera needs Adobe Flash, then you're out of luck.

If the IP camera works on a Mac with Firefox and Safari, then in all likelihood it uses Java. If you turn off Java (not just JavaScript) on your browser, and the IP camera stops working, then you know.

If you know the make and model of the IP camera, then reply here, and maybe someone who knows that device can tell (or check the manufacturer's web site).
