Playing iPhone through a basic car sterio

Hi,

I travelled through Ireland recently and found I had to switch off the radio as the radio stations were boring. Normally we rent a car so we took CD's with us. However as we took my own car this time, which only has an old cassette player so we were with out tunes.

So as I have an iPhone I thought I should be able to hook it up with my car stereo (don’t forget it’s old). Basically how can I do this?
Need to consider power source.

Regards
Darren

A very simple solution... Look for a Cassette adapter. It will look like an ordinary audio cassette. You plug the iPhone in to the adapter using the iPhone's headphone jack and insert the adapter into the cassette deck.

Radio Shack sells such an adapter in the US...

Hi Darren,
You may well be sorted now, but just in case you haven't bought the adaptor yet, another advantage of it, as I recently discovered, is that not only can you listen to music from your ipod on the iphone, but you can make phone calls through your stereo, too. I discovered this by accident, but it's the best hands free option I've found. Turn your iphone volume down to about halfway, and turn your stereo up, and you have perfect clarity, with no need to an ear piece or anything else.
