Dashboard Client Quits

Hello,

I looked around but wasn't able to find any answers. If this has been previously posted, I'm sorry! Anyway, I've been having problems with my Dashboard Client unexpectedly quitting. I haven't noticed a real pattern, but this happens when the computer is idle. If I click to open dashboard any of the three ways (dock, keyboard, mouse), it opens fine, but the blue active program dot on the dock is gone. And I keep getting the messages. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Megan

Does this happen immediately (or soon) after a restart?

but this happens when the computer is idle.

So you are saying Dashboard quits while you are not using any Dashboard widgets?

And I keep getting the messages.

So after you go to Dashboard, you get a message saying it has quit? What are these messages?

As a first step, have you run Disk Utility and used +Repair Disk Permissions+ ?

If that does not help, go to Dashboard (if you able to do so without it quitting) and close ALL of your currently running widgets. If there are no widgets running, does it still quit unexpectedly?

The Error message is a rectangular box with a yellow triangle and white exclamation mark graphic reading: "*The application DashboardClient quit unexpectedly.* Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."

I have 'Reported' the problem multiple times.

The message just pops up, unrelated to my use of Dashboard. Since Dashboard runs in the background, I don't use it all the time, it's just always active.

I have not run Disk Utility, but I will try that. I will then try closing all the widgets and see if that changes anything.

I'm having this same issue. I have an aluminum macbook (first gen). Everytime I open the monitor I get that same message that mring got. Not only that, but almost all of my other programs quit as well. Really the only programs that stay open are mac software.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem. And even better, does anyone have a solution?
