Voice Over does not say the names of playlists or songs

First time using iPod shuffle with Voice Over. I downloaded the Voice Over program as instructed, and clicked "Enable" in the setup screen.

I made several playlists on iTunes and loaded them onto my new Shuffle. All songs loaded successfully. Problem is: the Voice-Over announces them as "Playlist 1," "Playlist 2," etc. It does not announce the names I gave to each playlist, such as "Beethoven" or "Bruce Springsteen."

Same with the songs. When I press and hold the center button during a song play, it goes back to announcing "Playlist 1," etc.

What have I done wrong? Thanks for any help.
