i bought a Clique Hue HD Webcam, and it dosen't work.

the software show the camera bit grayed out, although it is definatly compatable, and the USB dose give it power as the base is lit up.

anyone out there have that camera, and can help me figure out whether it is faulty, or there is anything i can do?

many thanks

I don't think the webcam works on Snow Leopard. A lot of older webcams stopped working in 10.6. It also killed Macam and some other projects according to my friend.

Makes me almost glad I can't upgrade since I have no Intel machine yet. Sigh.

The Hue does now list 10.6 on some retail sites, maybe tehre is a new version which somehow gets around the problems of Snow Leopard??

I'm having the same problem. I can use my Clique via the Webcam Monitor software after the install of the specific Mac OS 10.6 driver from the Hue site ( http://www.huehd.com/drivers.html). However, if I have the Clique connected and try to open Skype...I get the "Skype quit unexpectedly" error. Skype opens and runs fine once I unplug the Clique. If I try to capture video within iMovie using the Clique I get the following error "iMovie quit unexpectedly while using the Sonix SN9C201 WebCam plugin."

If anyone has any ideas on getting the Clique to work it would be greatly appreciated. Hard to Skype between the grandparents and my 1yo without the flexible range of the Clique.

Thanks.

Hello there,

I believe I have the explenation for you here. I also have the Hue cam and was unable to use it on Snow Leopard. Then after I received an official response from the manufacturer everything was clear... unfortunately the older versions of Hue Cam are not 10.6-compatible which is a HUGE shame considering the price of the cam. Needless to say I gave the cam to my sister who is successfully using it with her Powermac.

The new versions of the Hue cam do support Snow Leopard, tho.

Also pretty weird thing is that there are Snow Leopard drivers for the OLDER version of the cam available on the manufacturer's site but they're NOT working.

I have gone back to my Xbox Live Cam which is working perfectly under Snow Leopard.

Regards,
S.

+Good afternoon+

+Snow Leopard removed compatibility with many driver-based webcams as well as some major webcam software (including Macam and iUSBcam). The older models of Hue were affected by this and no longer work properly in certain applications under Snow Leopard, though they continue to work on Windows and previous version of OS X.+

+The current "UVC" models of Hue as sold since Autumn work properly with Snow Leopard but this is due to a hardware change and unfortunately it is not something we are able to update with a software patch for the older cameras.+

+Best regards+
