Samsung H100 camcorder video's messed up in Quicktime 10.0
I've been looking everywhere to see if there is a fix for this. I just got a new HD Samsung camcorder model HMX-H100N. Shot some video with it and loaded onto my Macbook running Snow Leopard. Well even though the video is imported In the correct resolution. When I try to play it in Imovie09 or even quick time on its own the aspect ratio is all messed up. It looks stretched really bad, So bad that trying to edit it in imovie just isn't going to happen. I can boot into windows and it works great.. I really dont want to use windows though. All other movies from my old camcorder are in Imovie. Thanks for any help
Thanks, Sorry to say I just tried the same thing on my wife's MacBook Pro with the same results. She is also running iLife09, but she doesn't have Snow Leopard so her quick books version is 7.6.4 and seems to have the same problem. Sigh, Not sure what to do now.
The problem, I've found, is that Snow Leopard doesn't support Samsung's codec. Hopefully this support gets added (anyone know how to request/suggest?), but can be remedied in the interim by transcoding the video with something like VLC Player.
