firewire drive does not mount

After installing snow leopard I find that when I turn on my external firewire drive it doesn't automatically show up on my desktop.
I have to reboot in order for it to mount.
I didn't have this problem with leopard.
Any suggestions?

baltwo, Thanks for your reply.
I had repaired the disk prior to installing 10.6.
It wasn't visible in Utilities.
Today it wouldn't mount without a restart.
Tonight I tried and it mounted.
I'll have to see if behave properly the next few days.
I seem to recall back in OS7 there was a scan option which kept scanning until if found the disk, is there anything like that now?
Will keep you posted in a few days.
Thanks again.

You'll find info on your HD via a google search for *Fantom Titanium 250GB*. This leads to http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822154613 (among others). There, find a link to the manufacturer: http://fantomdrives.com/ and further links to downloads under support which redirects you software and firmware updates at http://www.micronet.com/support/software.htm

Determining which pertains to your item is left as an exercise. Thus, ends the lesson on how to search for stuff on the web. 😉
