How do I record voice on Final Cut Pro

Hi everyone. I have a question. How do I record audio from a microphone plugged to my mac on the FCP. And in case I decide to use Soundtrack which settings do I have to put to then pass this audio to a FCP project done with Apple Pro Res 422.

Thanks

EugeniaMac:

For high quality production work, and with a professional mike in hand I think that it would be better to preamp the mike and use the “line-in” function rather than use a cheap USB mike.

FYI: www.zzounds.com/item--ART127 - $48;

http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Nady-DMP2-Dual-Mic-PreAmp-?sku=1801 56 - $69.99;

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-MII-ABO-LIST - $59;

http://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHMIC100 - $29.95.

Whatever, good luck.

While a USB adapter or a USB mic is a good idea, if you're in a pinch and have a DV camera with mic input around, you can get away with it. Connect the mic to the camera, put the camera in "Camera" mode, connect the camera to the Mac, and use FCP's Voice Over to record DV Audio. If you have an HDV camera, flick it into DV mode for this. Don't forget to disable any "auto-off" feature of the camera and eject the tape.

However you record, clean up the audio for at least a light Noise Reduction and probably a Noise Gate in Soundtrack Pro.
