"the application "iphoto" cannot be launched -10828"
i did nothing previous to this in order for iphoto to be acting up, i have no idea what i may have done. ut this is the window that pops up everytime i try to use the application. i've downloaded the iphoto '09 support but still, nothing.
help please!
1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
i have also done the second option, after the first and the repairs were done. now that i am at this point it says that iphoto cannot open because it is not "supported on this architecture"
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only...’
cool. so let me get this straight... because i just did the first thing and i'm afraid by me moving around a bunch of other things it will no longer work. it won't re-install because it says that it is a receipt... which i know haha. so at this point now, if i put my disk in to re-install it, it should be no problem (i'm not at home with my disk, so i'm just looking for confirmation)
will my photo's be lost?
No - they (by default) are in the iPhoto library and nothing TD has recommended affects the iPhoto library -- But you ALWAYS should have a current backup of the iPhoto library if your photos are important to you - stuff does happen
thank you both for the help, so much appreciated. i've gone to the point of the restore disc, but i once i get past the "optional installs" part, it doesn't give me the iphoto option. i did have it on my mac when i got it. i deleted it from my computer, but i don't think that has anything to do with the options given to me on disc... i don't really know what to do
