Safari can't log into Facebook

After using Safari 4.0.3 to access Facebook successfully for several weeks, suddenly I cannot log in. Facebook help says when this happens to empty the cache and cookies -- I empty cache and just trash all the "facebook" cookies I can find. Then I quit Safari, restart it, and I can then log in. However, now it would appear I must do this every time I try to access Faceboook. I get no message when I try, the URL just says "attempt1" and then returns to the original log in screen. If I empty cache and remove FB cookies again, it will work, but not otherwise.

When I try to log in with Firefox, I have no such problem. Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...

Ope the Keychain Access application. (Applications/Utilties)

Select Passwords in the column on the left then delete the Facebook login name on the right.

Quit Keychain Access.

Open Safari. From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences and select the AutoFill tab.

Make sure: Usernames and passwords is selected.

Go to Facebook and logon using your username and password. It will prompt you for authorization, click "Always Allow".

If that doesn't help...

If that doesn't help...

1) Quit Safari
2) Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities) Find the "Safari AutoFill" item. Delete it.
3) Relaunch Safari. Next time it asks for authorization, click "Always Allow".
