My Macbook keeps disconnecting itself from the internet

Recently, I bought a Macbook Pro in September and ever since I got it, the connection with the internet have been weird. It keeps disconnecting itself from the internet. I know it's not my router or home internet because my Touch and other laptops have a consistent connection. The Airport icon has a full bar. I can reconnect, but I have to go to Network Diagnostics constantly to connect back to the internet, only to be disconnected 10 seconds later.

Out of desperation, I figured I do a clean install of Snow Leopard (why not since my Macbook is new anyways)! The problem is still there, the Macbook is updated to Version 10.6.1. Can someone help please? Is it my network settings? Is anyone else having this problem? Ahhhh

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Just want to chime in that I'm having the same problem.

Purchased my MBP 14 months ago and it worked fine until 2 months ago when I moved to china. At one apartment, the internet works flawlessly. It shows connected and is connected to the internet. At my girlfriend's apartment, where her 2007 macbook works great. My airport icon will show it is connected with full signal, but the internet will move slowly, then stop. At work it acts similarly. If I turn off the airport and turn it back on this will let me use the internet again, but it's frustrating, especially when trying to use VoIP services.

I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, but annoyed there isn't really a fix for it.

I too have been connection issues when i got my MBP 17 inch first 3 weeks was a dream, loved this little notebook but just recently when i had some mac software updates it just started kicking me off the internet every 10-20 minutes. I have just about tried everything updating my firmware for my 4 year old d-link wbr 2310 changing all the settings to only accepting 802.11g playing with the channel number, numerous calls to apple support and i also tried to reinstall the mac os still not fixing this problem. I finally decided to buy a new router linksys wrt 160n before i decided to bring it in to the genius bar for repair or replacement under the warranty. So far so good, no problems. When i did speak to an apple representative @ the wireless department, he did mention it's probably the MBP trying to find the fastest connection, therefore losing the internet connection. I do agree there is a flaw with the mac software that it's not working with the old routers or some new routers. I bet the people at apple figure if you're spending a few grand on a new laptop you might as well get a new high end router. I went with the linksys because netgear and dlink the support is almost none existent except for the first 60-90 days the rest you have pay for support. I also didn't opt for the apple extreme/express pricey for something you can get for $60 elsewhere.

Check out Amazon for the linksys router mentioned here i bought mine refurbished for $34.99 bestbuy has it for around $66 and it retails for $100 so far it has done the trick make sure you set the channel to 11 and name your ssid i'm crossing my fingers there would be no more issues, i am fan of the apple products so let's keep it this way with my ipod iphone and now the mac book pro.

I had that same problem. About every 10 minutes or so, my MacBook Pro would get diconnected from the internet. So, I went to my dad and told him about it, after months of just dealing with it. He said that the same thing was happening to his dell laptop. It was actually the network we were using. So, ask others in your household if they are having the same problem, and if they are, contact your network.

Hey guys, I had the same problem with my mackbook pro. I had a broadband connection with Siemens wireless modem given by our local operator and it worked perfectly fine but for some reasons they came and changed my modem and changed it to a local wireless modem called AZTEC saying its a better one and since than I started having internet disconnections either at startup or in the middle of browsing, I could get back to the internet after fiddling with the airport settings and it really didn't occur to me to check with my operator for 6 long months and since I could connect back to internet after playing around by switching off/on the airport...it was ok for me until recently it got too frustrating and I bumped into this forum and TRUST me I did each and every little thing that you guys suggested and I am happy it worked for a lot of you but it didn't for me and finally I borrowed a linksys wireless modem from a friend to check if it would work and BINGO it did and its been a week now my internet never disconnected, so guys don't buy a new modem, just try to borrow from a friend and check it out, it could help! ...and don't forget to return it ...lolol...I am now a happy person and I don't have to part with my appy lappy! Cheers!

Try this:
1) delete all entries regarding WiFi security key in Keychain (in Login & System).
2) After that you have to delete all entries in 'Preferred Networks' (Preferences->Network->Advanced).
3) OK & apply all changes
4) Then you can connect to your WiFi network again (don't forget to check 'Remember Networks ...') and this should be it.

I had this problem as well, i have an airport extreme and older macbook pro which worked fine together until i upgraded to snowl leopard which is when the problems started.not even 2 pages before the signal droped. To fix it all i did was plug the hardwire into the router for a few seconds and that seemed to do it. I know it seems to easy but ive been surfing for a while now and it hasnt crashed since

If you get an answer, if anyone does, let me know. Two other computers (non-Mac) in the house can get the Belkin router signal fine but not me. If I go to a coffee shop with wi-fi I get right on.

My computer says I am picking up internet ("you ARE connected to the Internet!") but somehow it won't connect with any servers at home. A non-Mac tech saw this and found that the computer was sending me to some nnd.758 or such place and couldn't figure out a way to change it. This has been going on for months and I've tried every which way but loose, changing locations, etc ., and options but nothing works. Yes, my son with a much cheaper computer , plays games, does videos and all kinds of stuff with internet! Help! Mac people do you read these messages!!!???
