iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store -I've tried everything

I cannot connect to the iTunes store to update my iPhone apps or firmware. I've been trying for two days, and need help. I personally think, given how many people have been posting over the past day or so, that it is an Apple issue. If it is, JUST LET US KNOW so we don't keep mucking around with it. I have much better things to do with my time than this. I've already ditched iTunes on my other computer for MediaMonkey, but I still need iTunes to update my friggin' iPhone.

I've disabled Windows firewall.

I've made sure my Internet Options are set to 'Use SSL 3.0' and 'Use TLS 1.0', and 'Check for server certificate revocation' is UNchecked.

I'm not connecting via proxy.

I'm fully connected to the internet in every other way, but have rebooted my modem and router (multiple times) just to make sure. I'm even, obviously, connecting to the Apple website.

I've disabled all antivirus programs, and am not running any pop-up blockers.

I've cleared my DNS cache using ipconfig /flushdns (again, multiple times).

So, are there any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!
-Jason

I have the same problem. Connection has been sporadic over the last month or so. I have also tried all the same solutions as you but still no connection. Very frustrating. I have logged an email support request and will post any results if they come. Please let me know if you find anything in the meantime. Thanks and good luck.

Me too. I've not been able to connect to the iTunes store ever since I upgraded to version 9. I also checked everything on my end. There's no question there's an Apple problem with version 9. Is there a way I can go back to the previous version of iTunes? The iPod touch is my first Apple purchase and already I'm beginning to get a bad taste for their products! I used to complain about Microsoft but it appears that, as of now, Apple is no better.

I had the same issue after upgrading... Here's how I solved it...I had a proxy enabled that would only show when using IE...which I rarely use.

Try going to Control Panel, Internet options, Connections Tab, LAN Settings, and make sure that the use proxy is NOT checked.

A reconnect to store at that point worked..no need to reboot.

I have tried all the same. I beleive it may be a problem with the security cetificate for the itunes store. Apple help is clueless but hopefully they will realize that they are losing money. It can't be my account because my itouch happily goes to the store and downloads apps.

This problem started with an update just before the one that comes up telling me to update and then tells me it cannot reach the applestore. That update might fix the problem.

Does anyone know more about security certificates and itunes. I know i have a problem with firefox and the securit certificates?

I can't connect to the store but can view my account settings. Apple have fobbed me off with the usual "nothing wrong at our end" tall tale. Clearly something is - either with v9 or a conflict with the numerous XP updates of the last couple of days. My use proxy box is definitely unchecked, so I guess I'll have to stop spending money on itunes - oh dear how sad never mind! Hopefully they'll come clean and issue a fix some time soon.

Okay are you guys using Internet Explorer 8? If it is installed, uninstall it and get IE 7. It's been known to cause problems with iTunes 9. Also you guys can pinpoint the issue using MsConfig.

MS Config for windows XP:

Let me know how it turns out. If you guys are still having problems, I would suggest emailing support or posting the issue here.

I had these same problems. My internet connection was fine, but would not connect to the new version of Itunes. I had read all the posts and did everything that everyone suggested. I finally read somewhere on the website to make sure you Norton Security firewall was disabled. I then disabled my stupid Norton Security thing for like an hour and BINGO! I connected to the Itunes store and could update my iphone!
