Can't install scanner driver for Konica Minolta magicolor 1690mf

I've successfully installed the printer driver for my Konica Minolta 1690MF multi-function printer/scanner/fax.

However, when I go to try an install the scanner driver, the following error appears:

"mc1690MF Scanner can’t be installed on this computer.

The operation system is not adequate for running magicolor 1690MF."

I am running 10.6.1.

I downloaded the drivers from the konica minolta website, and it claims the drivers are compliant up to 10.5 ( http://onyxftp.mykonicaminolta.com/download/SearchResults.aspx?productid=1167 )

Is there any way to get a scanner driver that is compliant for the snow leopard OS? Is there an alternative to waiting for the manufacturer to update their drivers?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

The installer does make a specific check to see if you are running OS X 10.6.x. If the installer detects OS X 10.6.x it will exit with an error. You will need to contact the manufacturer for a resolution. They must have some reason to include this behavior.

You could try this:

"Because the Canon printer driver installation program will not recognize Mac OS X 10.6, you can't install your printer drivers even though Snow Leopard is a minor update.

To install your Canon printer drivers...
Download the driver disk image.
Mount the disk image and copy the installer package to your desktop.
Control-click on the package and choose Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu.
Navigate to Contents » Resources and delete the file InstallationCheck.
Now double-click the package and install the drivers normally."

That almost worked. It allowed me to install the driver, but the driver won't work when I actually go to scan a page. It hangs when trying to connect with the scanner.

I talked to Konica Minolta support today and they said they are aware of the problem with the scanner driver, and they are "working on the problem". Hopefully they will issue a fix soon.

I am having the same problem. I was able to scan last week and suddenly this week image capture cannot find the scanner. The Konica Minolta Magicolor 1690mf prints fine but scanning is not functioning. I looking at drivesr on Konica Minolta's site but there were none for os 10.6.1. I called them in and they could not suggest anything other than reloading the printer. They could not tell me if this was a known problem. The person I spoke with says that with apple making the updates it might be a couple of months before they have a driver for it..... how frustrating I can't use the scanner for a couple of months??? Any suggestions out there?

I don't have a suggestion, but Apple can't provide a fix for this unless Konica does. Apple delivers the updated drivers through Software Update as a convenience; the actual fix for the scanning problem needs to come from Konica.

Did anything change between being able to scan and not being able to scan?

Nothing changed that I know of unless. That's what is so strange to me. I have not downloaded any software or made any type of change on the system. I had restarted the mac and the printer numer times thinking maybe magically it will start working..... unfortunately it will still not recognize the scanner......any other thoughts?
