AGP Pro and AGP
My AGP Pro card died (NVIDIA 5200). I have a 1.8 GHZ G5 (8GB memory), so the slot is an AGP Pro. All the AGP Pro cards I see are going for $200 to $700! I've read in places that an AGP card, as long as it says Mac somewhere, will work. They're alot cheaper. Will they work, and is there a performance hit? From what I can gather about AGP Pro, the extra tabs provide power, which implies that the card is souped up to require it. That would suggest to me that AGP isn't as powerful.
I also have 3 PCI-X slots, but don't see anything for those. I've also heard that a 3.3v PCI card will work in a PCI-X slot, but I seem to be hearing that PCI is slower. Thoughts?
