Jbl creature speakers won't work on the new Imac, I have gone into system prefs. and they are not recognised, headphones- not recognised, speakers work with Ipod, so does this indicate a problem with the port?
imac g5 24" intel, 2.66 ghz,
Mac OS X (10.5.7),
actually 10.6.1
Are you using the correct port? It's the one on the end. I have the JBL Creature also.. it has a green connector where it connects to the iMac. Make sure you gently push the cable all the way into the sound port on the back of the iMac. Also... on the back of the Creature... make sure all the cables are connected tight so that the satellites have a blue light on the bottom. Make sure your power source ot the Creature is good. Try a different one just in case. Make sure the blue light is on the back of the Creature.
The Creature won't show up in System Preferences/Sound.
Hi Carolyn, yes they are plugged in to the right port, no, they are not new I have had them for a while but they are fine on the Ipod. I was thrown by them not showing up in system pref/sound, but headphones don't work on mac either so I fear it is a trip to ASP, thanks
I hope you find a resolution. I've had mine for about 7yrs so far and I love Creature. I'm hearing impaird but I can hear with his hardware. No problem on either PowerPC or Intel Macs.
The green connector from the woofer... make sure the metal part isn't damaged in anyway.
