URGENT HELP! my epson stylus sx105 stopped printing files, at all

Try downloading and installing the 10.6.1 combo update.

Remember to repair disk permissions after the installation.



Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

I am having the same problem, and getting the same ERROR message (Error:/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjectPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Conten ts/MacOS/rastertoescpll failed). I tried the above solution, but am having the same results.

My printer is out of service at a critical time. If anyone has another suggestion I will be most grateful for the help.

Here is an update. After visiting the Epson site, I decided to download the latest driver they list as compatible with Snow Leopard. (epson13237.dmg)

After deleting the printer from the Printer & Fax list in preferences, I inserted the Snow Leopard disk, and installed Rosetta from the "Optional Installs.mpkg". I also selected the Printer Support and checked Printers on this Computer.

Next I reinstalled the printer using the epson file I downloaded earlier.

After a reboot, all (printer and scanner) were working. Epson CX4800 is the model number.

This is a problem could have been very simply solved by deleting the printer queue and re-add ( in Print & Fax preference). This action is listed as the first troubleshooting step in the Mac 101: Printing document, the page telling users the very basic knowledge of using 10.6 printing system.

While I did not mention it, I did delete the print queue several times, but to no avail. I had also deselected the printer and did that before reinstalling. If I'm not mistaken, Rosetta may have solved the problem, and the Epson page suggests that it should be installed for the driver to work.

I guess the Epson update is the culprit. I hope this can be answered soon!

Looks like many folks have fixed this by simply DELTE & RE-ADD the printer after doing the Epson driver update.
