Internet Explorer 5.2.3 and OS 10.5.8

Does Internet Explorer 5.2.3 for Mac work with OS 10.5.8? My Explorer will not launch. I understand IE is no longer supported but does it work? How do I get mine to open? I get a spinning beach ball.

Hi.

In my case, IE 5.2.3 does work under 10.5.8, but it's so slow and clunky (it can't display correctly many of the webpages), that I can't imagine why anyone would be interested in using it these days...

If your machine is Intel based, make sure IE is set to run under Rosetta (in the Get Info window).

Good Luck.

I have managed to get Internet Explorer 5.2.3 running on my Intel Core2Duo iMac with 10.5.8, and even 10.6.0. It may be that I had to delete old cookies and cache in the past that allowed me to run it. It is available for download, though not supported by:

If you install X11 from your Mac OS X 10.5 installer discs, you can run a Wine Version of Explorer:

There may be other browsers that can spoof websites into thinking you are running Explorer for the Mac*:
